School of Information Engineering(SIE) was founded in 1985, with computer technology and communication technology as its main educational content. We offer twomaster programs(Computer Science and Technology, and Electronic and Communication Technology), and threebachelor programs(Computer Science and Technology, Communication Engineering, and Data Science and Big Data Technology). The bachelor program of Computer Science and Technology is rated as the Brand Specialty of Jiangxi Province. We have Postgraduate Education and Innovation Base of Jiangxi Province, Experimental Demonstration Center of Jiangxi Province, and Key Laboratory of Radioactive Geoscience Large Data Technology Engineering of Jiangxi Province. We also own Research Center for Nuclear Geoscience Data Science and Systems Engineering Technology of Jiangxi Province, Demonstration Platform for Training Innovative Talents in Electronic Information Embedded System of Jiangxi Province, and Training and Innovation Base of Network Space Security Talents of Jiangxi Province.Presently, there are about 600 undergraduates and more than 100 postgraduates studying in the school (as of 2019).
Staff
Our school has a team of experienced teachers and management with 91 staff members. We emphasize faculty development planning and put a high value on team building and teamwork. We have the provincial teaching team of Computer Graphics and Image, the University-level Basic Computer Knowledge Teaching Group, and the Multimedia Software Engineering Innovation Group.
Talent Cultivation
Our school aims to cultivate talents of computer application and development ability, information collection and processing ability, and research and application ability for meeting the demands of national defense, economy and society. These aims are achieved by giving students strong practical and innovative ability with advanced technology and solid theoretical knowledge. We have founded the School-Enterprise Cooperation Bases with a dozen well-known enterprises in China as the practice platforms for students’ extracurricular science and technology activities. Most of our graduates excellent in their expertise have been employed in famous IT enterprises, such as Ufida Software, Hang Seng Electron, Tencent, ZTE Software, etc.
Facilities
The school has advanced facilities and labs with a total area of more than 3,000 m2, laying a solid foundation for experimental teaching and scientific exploration. The major labs are Computer Foundation Experimental Teaching Center, Large Data Analysis and Cloud Computing Laboratory, Operating System Laboratory, Computer Network Laboratory, Network Security Laboratory, Network Protocol Simulation Laboratory, Database Principle and Comprehensive Application Laboratory, Computer Composition Principle and Computer Interface Technology Laboratory, Embedded System Opening Development Laboratory, Internet of Things Laboratory, Minicomputer Laboratory, 4G Mobile Communication Comprehensive Laboratory, Communication Technology and Data Transmission Laboratory, Microwave Communication Laboratory, Optical Fiber Communication Laboratory, Animation Game Design and Development, Digital Image Processing and Simulation Laboratory and so on.
Our school is rated as provincial Postgraduate Education and Innovation Base and Provincial Experimental Demonstration Center for Computer Science and Technology.We also own a Research Center for Nuclear Geoscience Data Science and System Engineering Technology and a Radioactive Geoscience Large Data Technology Engineering Laboratory. Moreover, we have established several teaching practice and employment bases in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Suzhou.
Research
Teachers in our schools have undertaken more than 34 research projects in national, ministerial and provincial level. Moreover, our teachers have achieved a lot of scientific achievements such as publishing more than 50 international academic papers, granting about 70 authorized patents and 40 software copyrights.
International Exchange
We have actively engaged in the international exchange by fostering research collaboration and exchange of our teachers in America, Canada, Britain, Ireland, and Cambodia. We also invite noted experts or scholars from home and abroad to lecture in our school.
Achievements
Students have achieved excellence in different multi-disciplinary competitions across the nation. Furthermore, our school has cooperated with domestic information & communication technology enterprises by hosting the first Network Security Skills Competition of Education System with 360 Enterprise Security Group.Moreover, online learning teaching resources are available to the teachers and students out of our university. In the last three years, 64 graduates have successfully enrolled for postgraduate study in the first-tier universities, like Hong Kong Baptist University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Other graduates have gained the reputation of becoming the backbones in their information and communication technology companies.
